Once our businesses started catching fire, making money was restively easy but we never would have seen a penny had we quit thing those first few months of struggle. All that to say, it takes time to figure out how to build a business that works for you and priorities.
You should pursue your business with the goal of sticking with it for at least three years no matter what. With a long term mindset, you will be prepared to weather through any storm. But is not it too late to start a business? Is not the market saturated? Do not average age of leaders of high growth most business fail? According to a number of sources, including Duke University, the average entrepreneur is forty years old when launching his or her first business. The average age of leaders of high wroth starts ups is forty five years old. Not everything you try is going to work out, but it never too late to start.
It pays to experiment with different models to see what sticks and to be patient. Plant a number of seeds in hopes that something might grow. My eBay arbitrage business make $1,500 per month and was a decent base hit but because it was not scalable, I shut it down and parlayed the ecommerce skills to launch.
It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop. This is the mindset you must have when building a business. FedEx did not make a single dollar for five years.
