Education is an important form of leverage. The difference in earnings between some on who drops out of high school and a person who graduates from college can be measured in the millions of dollars, when measured over a lifetime. Yet a person who graduates from college with only a little financial educated with or without a college education.
I have met so many college graduates who leave school deeply in debt from school loans. But worse than then school loans, many of these graduates are anxious to get a job so they can become deeper in consumer debt. That is the price of having a good education with no basic financial education. A high paying job without financials education often means the person gets deeper in debt faster than someone with la low paying job. That is not too intelligent.
I have seen many people suffer because they work for a business that is run by incompetent owners or management.
Many people do well financially because they have excellent financial advisor. There are also many people who suffer financially because they have incompetent financial advisors. Rich said, the reason so many financial advisors are called broker is because they are often broker than you. So be careful from whom you take advice.
So the people around you can be a great source of leverage, positive and negative. You may want to ask yourself how many people around you are holding you back financially and how many are pushing you ahead financially.
A plumber finds leverage in using the right tools. A doctor uses medical tools in order to do his or her work. A car is f form of leverage for many of us. A computer now allows us to do business with the world thought the Web, so it is a very important tool of leverage.
Leverage can be found in your spare time. I know many people who spend their time watching TV or shopping. Many of the people I have met or read about become rich in their spare time rather than at their job. Hew let Packard and Ford Motor Company were started I garages and Dell Computer was started in a dormitory room.
